From Rotorua we took a long and windy route to the Coromandel Peninsula in the north east of the North Island. Wild and beautiful countryside and coastline with the famous Hot Water Beach and Catheral Cove. We had a huge and lovely cabin in a quiet campsite not far from these sites and spent a relaxing couple of days, not going too far afield, soaking up the sun and taking it easy !
It was here that we crossed paths for the third time ! with our friends from Narbonne, and this time we spent some time together digging holes at Hot Water Beach in order to make our hot water pool (before a huge cold wave came in from the sea and spoiled all the hard work !), and having a drink and a chat together - when anyone could get a word in edgeways that is, with Luca yap-yap-yapping, he was in his element !
Depuis Rotorua nous avons pris une route longue et tortueuse jusqu'à la Péninsule de Coromandel avec ses paysages et côtes sauvages, magnifiques. La fameuse Hot Water Beach et Cathedral Cove font partie de cette région et méritent largement le détour ! Nous avions une grande et chouette 'cabane' dans un camping tranquille et avons passé deux jours de détente, sans aller bien loin, profitant du soleil et d'un peu de farniente !
C'est ici que nous avons croisé, pour la troisième fois ! nos amis narbonnais, et cette fois nous avons pu passer un peu de temps ensemble, creusant le sable à Hot Water Beach afin de faire notre petite piscine privée d'eau chaude (avant qu'une grosse vague d'eau froide ne gâche tout le travail !), et papotant autour d'un verre de vin (quand on a pu en placer une car Luca était ravi d'avoir de la compagnie et était une vraie petite pipelette !)
