The night we arrived in Sri Lanka there had obviously been a huge downpour and when we get out of the airport it was like walking into sauna, the air was so hot and humid. We arrived at our guesthouse to a chorus of frogs - you've never heard anything like this racket - amazingly loud, however after a long day we did still manage to fall asleep.
Up the next morning to get bus to Colombo and then a train to Kandy. We would have had plenty of time had the tuk tuk driver from our guesthouse not (mistakenly) put us on a bus going in the opposite direction from Colombo and by the time we found out at least 20 minutes had gone by .....
So off we got and on another bus in the right direction, and just arrived at Colombo station to catch the train by the skin of our teeth. As a result all the bookable seats were gone so we had to buy tickets with no seats guaranteed, and yes, that meant a 3hr train journey in the humid heat, standing ......just as well the beautiful countryside on the way kept us occupied.......
La nuit de notre arrivée au Sri Lanka il avait bien plu et quand nous sommes sortis de l'aéroport on aurait dit qu'on rentrait dans un sauna tellement l'air était chaud et humide. Le chant des grenouilles nous attendait à notre guesthouse, une vacarme pas possible, mais après une longue journée nous avons quand-même réussi à nous endormir sous nos moustiquaires.
Le lendemain matin debout de bonne heure pour prendre un bus pour Colombo et un train pour Kandy. Si notre chauffeur de tuk tuk de la guesthouse ne nous avait pas mis (par erreur) sur un bus qui allait dans la direction opposée de Colombo nous aurions été largement dans les temps, mais avant qu'on ne s'en aperçoive une vingtaine de minutes étaient passées......
Vite vite nous sommes descendus et avons pris un autre bus dans la bonne direction et avons réussi à prendre le train de justesse. Seul bémol, les billets réservables étaient tous pris et nous n'avions donc pas de place assise.....ce qui voulait dire 3 heures de trajet debout dans une chaleur humide.....heureusement que les beaux paysages nous ont occupé en route !

Rather you than me!! Sounds like a bit of a nightmare..............but I imagine the journey was worth it?
